Richard Burton died in 1984 strangely enough having starred in what was to be his last film......1984.

wow, thats a curious coincedence

Cinderella had two step watermelons, who were very smelly to her! so one day, her fairy god toilet turned a pumpkin into a fanny and sent her of to the poop! HAHA, oh, how ruthlessly absurd.

1984, hmmm. Was that a book? I may have read it, for it sounds familiar.

It was a book, a couple of movies and at least one TV adaption. It was by George Orwell and is where we get the phrase 'big brother' from with regard to being watched by authority.

There's some real young people on here. Good to see a young fan base to keep the vision alive.

Is Richard Burton dead???????

Are you having a laugh. He died the day before my 16th birthday on 5th August 1984.

God rest his soul.

on this subject, and it brought back memories of the concert last year at Nottingham Arena.

i bought one of the signed posters from the arena and was carring it out at the end of the show. standing at the back near the exit and watching the dismantelling(?) of the stage, one of the stewards tried to move us on.

she noticed i had a t-shirt, programme, mug and the poster, asking me how much each cost.

i mentioned that the poster was a signed one. 'ooh who by?' she asked and without thinking i said Richard Burton. 'wow is he here' was a reply

goes to show even the older generation sometimes do n ot know what has happened

just thought i would share this with you

Now Thats Funny... you'd have thought that they would know if they were actually going to one of the concerts.

It is ironic that 1984 should turn out to be his last movie when he died that very year. I remember his death being on the news and feeling sad because I felt that I had lost a hero. Two years later Phil Lynott died... I actually cried that time.

For those of you that haven't seen 1984, I can't recommend it highly enough. An absolutely stunning performance from a remarkably talented actor who sends shivers up and down the spine with every role he's played. He was in so many fantastic movies and I find it completely unfair that he never won an Oscar, even though he was nominated many times.
