Went to woking and horsell common last year with my girlfriend and some of her mates from down there. At the sand pits in horsell at crater lake it actually looks like something big hit there, you can imagine the cylinder being there, it's an amazing sight! Went to woking after and the lad we were with took some shots on his camera cos I'd forgot mine (D'oh!) but still waiting for him to e-mail me the pictures!

i always imagined the tripods in the book like this one:does anyone know what it is called(not tripod but______tripod)

Monstrous tripods, higher than the tallest steeple, striding over the pine trees and smashing them.Walking engines of glittering metal. Each carried a huge funnel ,and i realised with horror that i had seen this thing before.

Been to Woking many times- never seen it!

Does it run off? Or change sites!

It doesn't move.. except for that one time last year when we were there  ...

Around the tripod, the floor has a kind of mosaic depicting bacteria as well. It's well worth a look for fans of the story.

Hi Nerfie,

I am just scraping myself off the floor from laughing so much - I think you have almost cured my heart condition! But now I have a sore tummy from laughing.

How on earth did you manage to do all that without getting arrested?

My fav bit is where your Martian in pursuit has to get his leg over the bush to chase you all - LOL!

What does Jeff Wayne make of this funny thing? Love to hear his view!

Clever team!

I'd had some ideas what we should do beforehand but a lot of the funny stuff that happened was accidental. We had a mad day rushing around Woking (proper gorilla guerilla filmaking) and the story sites and it was great fun.

No tripods were harmed in the making of that film!

Jeff liked it a lot, kindly let us use his music and had it posted on the fan section of the main site here.

I am thrilled that Jeff loked it- I imagine it's very much his sense of humour. A great sport.

I am still laughing about it - brightens up my day when low.

All hugs
