I recall reading on a WOTW online forum a few years ago that a version of WOTW was published about ten years or so that was the draft of the novel we all know and love. I remember reading a vivid description of some of the passages that differed greatly, e.g. the narrator being recruited by the provisional government to carry bombs into the Martian pit.

Is this early rejected version available anywhere? Thanks!

'Edisons' is NOT officially related to TWoTW, but is, possibly, the first sequel. A few sequels to the work have been offered since, including my own novel. But I've ultimately (as one who wrote!) found that it's ground best not stepped on for the moment.

There is an early 'Pearsons' magazine version (ie. the first draft) of the book available online. Alas, my old PC died in transit, along with the favourites links to things such as this that I had.

Give me a little time and I will find it for you.

Thanks chaps. I think I've found it - it was Hughes and Geduld's 1993 Critical edition of WOTW, which contains extensive annotations and first draft material. I've just found one for £9 so I'll let you know when it arrives.

I should complain if you have had to wait three years for it to come, we haven't heard from you yet!
