I would like to know about the chart-positions and the sales of the "New Generation" album.

Has anyone got details ?

How do the numbers compare to the original album and even "Spartacus" ?

Sorry for the delay - we've been on Tour!
It sold over 100,000 copies in the first 10 days and went Gold.

It's impossible to compare sales of an album in 2012 against 1978, as you might imagine because the marketplace and buying habits have changed so dramatically, but in terms of success, it has been a very successful project which Sony Music are very happy with indeed.
So much so, that they have now committed to further marketing and projects into 2013.

Admin:

You are right with the comparison, things have surely changed since then. Sorry for sounding so pessimistic/bad in my postings, but I don't let anything get in the way of "my" original TWoTW even if it is Jeff Waynes own work, lol.

With "they" you mean Sony ?

Here's a better comparison.
2005 Re-release and 2012 re-release
And demographic.

As we know in 78 the backbone of the demographic was predominantly young people.
27 years later it was the same demographic that was making up sales.

So.. what was the point of the Techno music and reduction of traditional instrumentals?
It's not going to generate any more fans than the current rate that has been going for nearly 3 and a half decades.

If it's not a fad like Gangnam style which has no artistical merit, it will not be Big time flavour of the month.
And for the sake of culture, DO NOT try to emulate these things, or try to appease their insipid brain dead adherents!
