|I read the book when I was in primary school and I've also been familiar with the musical version of WOTW since it's release. So I think I can be certain of being familiar with the source material enough to be able to critique something which was made on a shoe string and made marketing claims that it was the best thing since sliced bread. Not to be harsh, but the movie may have followed the book very closely but ... it was the way it was hyped because it very clearly wasn't the masterpiece it was hyped up to be. In fact, I think I read somewhere that it was going to be better than Spielberg's version and flying off the shelves in stores. |
